What is llms.txt?

A plain-text file at yoursite.com/llms.txt, proposed in 2024 (llmstxt.org), that gives AI systems a short summary of your site and links to its most useful pages in Markdown.

Do ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google read it?

No major AI engine has confirmed it uses llms.txt when answering. It is cheap to add and harmless, which is why we generate it, but it is not what decides whether engines recommend you. The pages engines cite, and what other sites say about you, matter far more.

Where do I put the file?

Save the result as llms.txt and upload it to the root of your site, so it opens at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt. Most CMSs let you add a file to the public folder or set a custom route.

Is anything I type stored?

No. The file is built in your browser and nothing is sent to us.
